Isn’t life funny? One week ago I was going to a family funeral and the next week I'm at a festival in a big field with several thousand people celebrating music and life. I am sure cousin Edgar would have approved.
The Jazz FM Love Supreme Festival was in its second year. It was our first. The rain tried to kill the buzz but it didn’t win. Nothing could stop the energy and warmth that ran through the crowd last weekend.
Some of the goodies… Gregory Porter, De La Soul, Soul II Soul (with the dynamite Caron Wheeler), Courtney Pine, Omar, Imelda May, Lalah Hathaway, Incognito, Jamie Cullum, Snarky Puppy, Natalie Williams’ Soul Family, James Torme and Theo Jackson. Could this festival get any better? Yes it could! On Saturday early evening, we’d just left the main stage after listening to Laura Mvula when I heard a voice call out my name. I looked around and couldn’t believe my eyes. It was Miriam! We haven’t seen one another for 17 years! We met in Finland (Turko to be exact) where we worked as DJ/Singers. It was turning out to be an even better festival now, having found a long lost friend who I didn’t expect to see again. I love it when life throws you such wonderful surprises
